    A beautiful day in Bonaventure cemetery!

    So we had a picnic at the cemetery today.

    What you didn’t know cemeteries are basically city parks? Well this “park” has picnic tables that overlook the Wilmington River. Also we plan to buried here next to a majestic old tree. (That is another blog post for another time.)

    Lovely group of pine trees watching over all resting here. How lovely!

    Sunday Snap May 3, 2020: Surprise Memorial; Finding Christ on Sunday

    Sunday morning walking turned into taking a lovely 7 mile ride out to and around two local cemeteries, Hillcrest Abby East and Catholic Cemetery (sometimes called Cathedral Cemetery). It was a beautiful morning and I was enjoying riding so much I hadn’t planned to take any pictures.

    We discovered that there was a road joining the two cemeteries together near the back of Catholic Cemetery. Following the road back to its end this is what I saw.

    This individual memorial set in honor of a man buried here long ago. Rose bushes yielded red blooms for the living who stopped, drawn here, invited here, like us. It was like Easter morning had come back. The cross against all the dense green trees and blue sky gave a sense awe, beauty and surprise! Finding Christ on Sunday morning before our online church service was a very nice surprise indeed!
