Butterfly Wings
Soft winds blowing beneath delicate wings,
Carry tiny captives far from home
To places imagination unforeseen,
Butterflies set free to roam
Gliding elegantly on miniature wings,
Fluttering effortlessly throughout the sky
Hovering softly over succulent flowers,
Gently gathering nectar as the day goes by
Paper-thin wings sprinkled with fairy dust,
Seem to display magic as they go
About Mother Nature’s pollination chores,
Dancing elegantly to and fro
Breathtaking designs galore,
Multi-colored, with beauty unsurpassed
Wings of life moving diligently evermore,
As long as fragile existence last
Mysterious creatures, peaceful to watch,
Gracefully landing on petals soft
Moving about with a ballerina’s grace,
Layered wings keeping frail body aloft
Wings symbolizing freedom of spirit
As we gaze, souls yearning to fly,
Butterfly wings signify human nature,
Soaring peacefully through the sky

After my recent hospital COVID-19 ward stay with pneumonia in the lungs, Neal brought me home (with portable oxygen in tow) to find a beautiful bouquet of luscious purple irises. After a few days and gaining slowly more mobility, I placed the irises in the morning sunlight streaming through our home office window and pulled out the Canon EOS Rebel SL1 with reverse lens for macro photography. Not iPhone 13 Max Pro shots this time. What fun having the camera back in hand. A good start to a long recovery.
