Memorial Day 2019 finds me back at the delightful home of Pat Prokop. The occasion? Again he has opened up his garden for the public to enjoy.  Free smiles for everyone!

A portrait captures a moment that’s gone forever, they are impossible to reproduce. Street Photography: Garden Smiles. My goal in this series is to create a really awesome frame of people existing because they allowed me time to share their world.

Pat Prokop’s Day Lily Garden, Savannah, Georgia. Memorial Day 2015, great friend Pat Prokop, local meteorologist and avid Day-Lily grower invited myself, Neal, and many of his friends/acquaintances from throughout the community and our church (Asbury Memorial UMC).  One of my favorite people and truly a good friend, Lance Wilhem happen to visiting the open garden too.  As most of my friends know I just love a good hat, and a good smile, Lance had both! Inspired in the moment, and with his permission of course, Lance became the latest entry in my series. Lance loves to smile and loves people so much that he has started a wonderful group in our church and community, Reconciling Ministries. It’s all about bringing folks together and healing racial wounds causing division in our southern culture. A member of our church’s hospitality committee, I do believe Lance is the right man.

  1. I like your purpose behind your portrait series. I’m always fascinated by a good portrait that captures some of the essence of a person.
