Yes we can though it is not quite the Fourth of July, today we can show patriotism. June 14 is known as Flag Day.

The “Stars and Stripes”, our flag was authorized by Congress on June 14, 1777, according to the National Flag Day Foundation. The entry in the journal of the Continental Congress reads “Resolved that the flag of the thirteen United States be Thirteen stripes alternate red and white: that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.”

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed June 14 as Flag Day, and in 1949, Congress passed legislation establishing it as day of observance. The day inspires parades, essay contests and other community events across the country to show support for America and its service members.
