I found the exoskeleton of a Giant Cicada. He outgrew the small shell of a body he called home. So he left his old empty, hollow self attached to a tree.

When I was stationed at Ft. Jackson, SC there were these gigantic green bugs that we used to call Air Assault bugs. I think that they hibernate then at 17 years come out of the ground. The base was inundated with them. To me a Native Native New Yorker it was like the Alfred Hitchcock movie, The Birds only with giant Green monster bugs! Ugh! They were worse than the water bugs in New York City!
