    looks like an island that is being affected by rising seas

      These driftwoods or weathered remains of shoreline trees had fallen from an eroding maritime forest. Much of the beach and the campground at the park have been lost to storm surge from a series of recent-year tropical storms and hurricanes. South Carolina is a magnet for hurricanes on the easthern seaboard.
