The evening sun sets as you can hear “Taps” played at near by Hunter Army Airfield. Skies blaze golden for a moment, giving respect followed by silence. 
Day is done,

Gone the sun,

From the hills,

From the lake,

From the skies.

All is well,

Safely rest,

God is nigh

  1. the Last Post is one of the most moving moments.

    I attended a WWI memorial service in Ypres on the 100th anniversary of my great uncle’s death and it has stayed with me forever. As does your piece today
