Wildlife: Birds of the Air – Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Feathers

Our visit to The Bronx Zoo’s Aquatic Bird House.

Anhingas are water birds native to the Americans. They raise their wings to let the sun dry their feathers after diving for fish. They don’t have oil glands to waterproof their feathers

Their long, slender beaks are perfectly adapted to find food in freshwater lakes, ponds, and slow-moving streams.

Also called, Snakebird, Darter, American Darter or Water Turkey, how about you pick one.

  1. There’s always something a bit eerie when I see them all spread out like that.
