30 day Christmas photography challenge full of festive wholesomeness.
14. The Colour Green
In Historic Downtown Savannah there are 22 Squares. Our Squares are like small parks located along a grid affectionately named “The Oglethorpe Plan” after James Oglethorpe founder of Georgia. Tourist flock to Savannah for glimpse into “yester-year” through the preservation of these squares.
Each Square serves as a urban neighborhood to the residents that live nearby. When Christmas Season rolls around there is a tradition called “The Greening of the Square.”

Residents and neighbors gather to decorate the light poles, benches, hand rails of homes and even trash cans with lengths of green pine swag and red ribbons or bows. And sometimes each other! Ha!!!

In Washington Square (Ward) we take this celebration/ceremony very seriously, after all, this our home!

That doesn’t mean Neal and didn’t have a bit of fun too!

See next year, right here in the square!
