On a recent trip to Ponte Vedra, Florida, Neal and I stopped at Florida’s Welcome Center for some “Sunshine State Orange and Grapefruit Juice”. Also hours of driving demanded the bladder to have a pit stop too.
To our surprise and delight we stumbled into a time warp of sorts. It was like “One of these things is not like the other”, a little “out of place” I’d say.
It’s a trick question. Have you seen one of these? I think most people never had!
I mean ‘seen” an actual one in the wild? Not in the Smithsonian, encased in glass? With a “Do not touch the exhibit!, Neal” Well, we all know who (Neal) loves to touch!
Have you ever used a “pay phone?”
Here… follow Neal’s basic instructions…
Pick up the receiver…
Dial the number using the push buttons… Wait!
Who even remembers phone numbers anymore! Damn iPhone contacts!
We did skip a step after picking up the receiver.
Most important! Put coins in the pay phone!?!
No one in America has coins anymore and you can’t tap-to-pay on these vintage machines. I guess that’s why they faded for modern times.
