I thought my day was truly off to a bad start! Waking up late for starters, but I still got my cup of joe in my favorite mug. Somehow we needed to get a decent breakfast before grandkid babysitting duty at noon. What would be delicious and quick?
Suddenly, an Epiphany!
Just the day before while getting our daily walking steps in we stumbled The Grey Market Savannah, lunch counter and market.
Off we headed, across downtown Historic Savannah. Found decent parking and as we walked through the door, to our surprise, the place was packed. Counter full my spirits sank! My countenance went sour! I was not a happy camper. With the prospect of spending the next unknown number of hours with three little kids, no breakfast. I wanted, no needed a “do over”!
I checked the parking app on my phone, 20 minutes out of the 30 paid for had expired. Another 30 to 45 minutes seemed necessary. Just then Neal spied a couple paying at the counter and we swooped in before the seats could be taken. A little too quickly for to waitress who politely asked to clean our spot.
Coffee poured into cup, breakfast hash ordered, bacon crispy, disaster averted! So pleasant was the conversation with our waitress, so delicious was the locally sourced foods ( made in house). Kudos were promptly given to the cook who worked tirelessly churning our meals, bagel sandwiches all while rotisserie chickens and pork loin rotated in the background.
Oh how I love having breakfast at a lunch counter!
