Not So Unusual to Me

While visiting the beautiful Belgian town of Helen, Georgia we ventured off the beaten path and found the Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia Center in the neighboring town of Sautee Nacoochee. The wonderful surprise of this visit was we discovered this museum showcased America’s premier grassroots art forms with an emphasis on how pottery played a role in southern life.

The face jug is an unusual but nationally acclaimed price of heritage artwork.

Quillan Lanier Meaders was the American potter know as the master of the face jug art form.

Some of that pottery is both rather unusual and frightening. Thanks for participating in this week’s #SundayStills, Robert.
