New growth springing up at the George L. Smith State Park, Twin City, Georgia.
These burns are a management tool to restore healthy forests and grasslands and reduce woody fuel in the case of wildfires. Trees like the Long Leaf Pine are resistant to the fires and mature while wildlife often share barrows and dens during times of controlled burns.
Beautiful blades of grass are highlighted against this charred environment . Fallen tree in background. Renewal of life! Victory for a new season of growth! How beautiful are these leaves! Charred pine cones and pine needles lie together. These amber leaves are show boldly on the blackened surroundings.
It was truly incredible walking through this part of a trail in the park!
