Welcome to plentiful waters of George H. Sparks Reservoir and Sweetwater Creek. Sweetwater Creek rises in Paulding County, outside Atlanta, Georgia and has a large drainage basin of about 250 square miles.

Once in the park the 215 acre George H. Sparks Reservoir is formed and it is spectacular!

Nature is calling! This was such a wonderful exploration into Georgia’s State Parks.

From the Reservior trails lead hikers along the twists and bends towards the rapids.

After the creek has entered the park, a spillway controls it flow into the reservoir as it began to feed rapids near the historic mill ruins.

These ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company, a textile mill burned during the Civil War attract many hikes to this park.

Here, Sweetwater Creek drops 120 feet in elevation on its race to the Chattahoochee River.

Sweetwater Creek actually flows out of the park on its long trek towards the Chattahoochee River.
