The Bone Yard

Not about bones, think driftwood!

South Carolina’s Hunting Island State Park has a lot to offer the adventurer. Like hiking a trail along the beach to what we were told ends at a boneyard. What! Bones on a beach?

. .

In my mind I was seeing the forbidden elephant graveyard from “The Lion King”.

. .

We decided not to hike the beach, 2 miles, but instead drove to the Nature Center and found a trail there. At the end of the trail, what a sight! Fallen trees, bleached by salt water, wind and sun, form the picturesque stretch of “boneyard” beach on the Hunting Island’s north end.

wow so atmospheric. Stunning shots, and not surprised you were seeing elephants instead of trees – what a sight
