This historic town in in the Poconos Mountains of Pennsylvania, Jim Thorpe, formerly known as Mauch Chunk has a door that most people haven’t seen.

You have to head to the Asa Packer Mansion which means there will be many stairs to climb because the mansion is situated on a hill overlooking the town, the valley and the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway Station.

The mansion is 3 stories with over 18 rooms so I say there are a lot of doors to be found. Except for one.

. .

You actually have to go outside the house to rear of the building which back in 1861 was the front entrance. During the house tour there was no mention of what could have been stored behind this door nor what is locked in there now. I love a good mystery!

Could be someone hid the key!

  2. That’s a great old door and a lovely photo. It does make you wonder. I’ve been in the region but not for a long time. Thanks for sharing with Thursday Doors.
