Wildlife: Birds of the Air – Eyass -Juvenile, Red Shouldered Hawk

Wildlife Photography

Driving home through our historic Savannah squares I could hear the unmistakable calling of a hawk. I have gotten pretty good at it. I slow the car down and peer out the window… there he is! Sitting on a branch in Green Square still calling out. Oh! It’s a baby hawk, an Eyass. (I had to look that up)

I told Neal we would drive home and rush back to the square with my telephoto lens camera. We had to hurry, the evening night was rapidly approaching. Daylight a fleeting.

So we rushed back.

No hawk! No hawk? Where did he go.

After walking around awhile we headed back but then I heard my baby hawk calling out again. He was on a chimney of an old historic house calling out and several other birds on the surrounding hi wires didn’t seem to like him being there.

Green Square, Savannah, Georgia.
