Exploring Fort Pulaski: A Scenic Lighthouse Adventure

It was worth the trip from Savanah to Fort Pulaski National Monument.

Our visit the old fort gave the perfect opportunity for a picnic and then walk to a historic lighthouse.

Ok, walk to an observation point to see what can only be glimpsed from highway 80 leading to Tybee Island.

That is the Cockspur Island Lighthouse. Most of the time it looks to be floating in the waves with the tide submerging the small island base.
