Did you know about the Siam Curcuma or Summer Tulip before this post? Have you seen them around?

    I have.

Interesting enough, even though it’s called a tulip, it’s not actually a real tulip. It’s part of the ginger family and is related to turmeric.

“To wander is to discover that nature hides her greatest masterpieces in the quietest corners, waiting for the patient soul to find them in the bloom of a single flower.”

I love seeing these vibrantly colored plants on my walks and in the nursery sections of stores. Neal and I were just walking in the arts and gallery section of St. Augustine when I had to stop and take a few pics of some in front of a store

Two pink Siam Curcuma blooms at different stages of opening beside green leaves.
One reaching upward, another opening below—two moments in the same transformation.

    Not What They Seem

Like hidden ginger in a vibrant crown, the Siam Curcuma blooms quietly, bringing the warmth of the tropics to any space.

To gaze upon this flower is to witness nature’s playful artistry, where a rugged tropical survivor masquerades as a gentle Summer blossom, whispering that appearances are merely the beautiful surface of a much deeper truth.

Here I am sitting at the desk thinking about blog building.

Next thing I noticed was a little kitty had climbed into the chair with me. “Hi there Benny, I’m busy.”

A tiny bite to the back and pawing on the seat cushion means someone wanted more attention.

He knows when I’m devoting extra time that doesn’t include holding him. So he gently nudges me from my seat and honkers down on the warm chair cushion.

Ok Benny, time for me to take a break.

    Imagine waking to golden beauty.

That’s what happened this morning. Existing the darken bedroom, I walked into the bright living room seeing the endless ocean view from the sliding glass walled balcony doors. What a gorgeous orange glow!

Take a deep breath and just be!

Morning sky filled with gold light was a dance light and joy!

    THIS WEEK I NOTICED

    New Today

So many times I easily dismiss the “newness” of today. I fall into the trap of nothing ever changes instead of opening up to possibility of what is “new”.

Starting fresh, starting the next breath, the next look, the next beholding… how can that not be new!

There in lies the true story. Change my perception of what is and the experience changes with it.

    Vastness on the Horizon

The precious moment of morning had me sitting back in my swivel chair with Benny on my lap doing nothing. How is it possible to just be?

Another shimmering wave hits the sand, then another, leaning back I delight in the comfort that there will be yet another wave. What care do I have!

The sunrises as waves crash on the shore
The sunrises as waves crash on the shore

I did not have to share the sun with anyone else and at the same time who was I denying its warmth? Neal was still a sleep, his loss, for now.

Sunrise, Gold to share or just keep the memory in your own heart.

    Robert Smith

I don’t plan to wake up early each day to greet the sun as it soars skyward at roughly 1,037 mph, but for now I’d like the stillness to last just a little longer.
