  • Just Look Closer

    Just Look Closer

I love to walk in the downtown historic district of Savannah.  Since moving downtown I have been doing a lot of walking.  One thing I really enjoy is how I can explore the same streets and lanes and still find something new, something striking, something that catches my attention.  The everyday can surprise you!

Camera in hand, I snap pictures of moss on old weathered brick walls, flower pots tucked in corners on elevated porches,  metal railings rusting in a beautiful turquoise green and then… a window with bars.

Did these bars say stay out, keep back?  A closer look reveals messages of affirmation.  Look closer still.  A conversation between friends Scott and Matthew?  Reflecting  on a time that was good.  Maybe the tone is being set for others to realize how we should cherish our relationships and cultivate new ones with those we may meet on Monday strolls down historic Savannah streets.  Look closer at the faces that pass you by.  They may at first say “keep out”, “I’m in a hurry”, but really are waiting for a chance to grace your life and you may bring a smile on their faces today.

So to you my followers…  I love You!  Thank you for stopping by!  It was so good chat with you again!

And thank you Scott and Matthew for some inspiration!

  • Sunday Rose

    Sunday Rose

I like to think the day after Valentine’s is just as sweet as the night before.  The simple reflection of a rose in the morning sunlight.  Love is renewed the dawn of each new day!

    Wonderland

Be transported to a wonderland of beauty and amazement.  Magical mushrooms and sparkling snow,  moss and branches.  Splendor found in the tiny winter world.

    Photography 101: Triumph  Day 20

These photos were taken during a visit to the Birds of Prey exhibit at the Callaway Gardens Discovery Center Auditorium/Discovery Amphitheater. Callaway Gardens is nestled in the Georgia foothills near Pine Mountain close to the Alabama State line.  You have to take the trip there.  This magnificent creature is Guinevere, a Red-tailed Hawk.  Beautiful isn’t she!  Wait, I think she sees a rodent.

Lines, edges, right triangles and slopes.  Who every thought that going fishing at the beach required so much math?  Mrs. Ewbanks would be so proud!  Let’s see, fishing poles have fishing-line, fishing-lines on poles form triangles, there is the water’s edge, also sand dunes have slopes.  Hmmm, that’s a bit tricky.

    Photography 101: Glass  Day 17

Homemade Pecan top cake at the first annual Pecan and Honey Harvest host by Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church.  The event was held in Historic Savannah’s Madison Square.  Being a member of the church, I was on hand for the set up and to take pictures too.  My focus of the picture was on seeing through the glass before I even entered the photography 101.  Enjoy!

    Photography 101: Treasure  Day 16

Treasure today because in time it will all be washed away!

    Memories Of The Beach

We went to the beach to get wind in our hair
to stand on the sand and simply to stare.
To let the surf tickle toes and dampen our clothes
    as we played ‘run away’
    from the wavelets at play.

We went to the beach to climb on the rocks
find cool shallow pools where we’d take of our socks,
and peer in the waters to see what we might find
that the waves of the sea,
    had last left behind.

We went to the beach to find coloured shells
the kind that when placed to our ears
make the sound of the ocean appear,
and gathered rocks that we never would find
    in the places we walked,
    for most of the time.

We went to the beach and all that, we did find
and the smell of the salt refreshed our tired minds.
I’ll never forget the laughter and sounds
    and the freedom to run,
    on that wet sandy ground.

We went to the beach my family and I
    and there we were one,
with the ocean, the beach, and the sky.
