While visiting Cherry Log Mountain, Cherry Log, Georgia we decided to travel to the nearby Lake Blue Ridge. Many tiny living things make their home at this mountain lake.

    I think the beauty and the wonder of macrophotography is when you realize tiny details that have been right under your nose all along. While visiting Cherry Log Mountain, Cherry Log, Georgia we decided to travel to the nearby Lake Blue Ridge. Strangely after several years of being in the area we had never seen this mountain lake.

    Two goals: 1. Walk/hike this awesome lake. 2. Find some awesome tiny things to capture.

    I aimed my camera at a cluster of white petals. And Waa Laa! Tiny ant crawling to the petals! Honestly… Again, he was so small you could barely see him!

Two goals: 1. Walk/hike this awesome lake. 2. Find some awesome tiny things to capture.

    I aimed my camera at a hanging leaf. And Waa Laa! Tiny bug clinging to the leaf! Honestly… He was so small you could barely see him!

    I think the beauty and the wonder of macrophotography is when you realize tiny details that have been right under your nose along. I walked out our cabin after a morning rain on Cherry Log Mountain, Cherry Log, Georgia. The goal was find some awesome raindrops to capture. I aimed my camera at the top of the first bush, at a little puddle and surprise! That puddle was an insect with raindrops clinging to his tiny legs, antenna and body.

    Believe it or not, I walked around for over an hour then went back inside, later that afternoon the insect was in the same spot. No joke!

    I’m not sure what kind of insect it was. Not enough detail in my shot. Do you know? Comment please.

    I extended a finger, providing a landing pad for the fluttering lady bug. Swerving like a jet circling and airport, like a jet fighter attempting the impossible landing on a carrier in rough seas, little legs extend and… Touch done! Tiny wings fold then disappear under familiar red shiny shell.

    Happy to “stick” the landing, Mr. Lady bug scampered around my finger, using my fingerprint as a topological map, a runway for the next flight onwards. Before I could “snap” another pic he was off.
