    June 19 now celebrates Juneteenth

    Need a napkins for celebration? Freedom Day gets them too…

    Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.

    Neal and I love to visit our local public library on Bull Street. There was a wonderful display for Juneteenth and Freedom Day leading up to the holiday! Books to read, information and even a copy of the Proclamation.

    Freedom Day when? It has been like how many years…? 159 years since the 1865 original date. Who knew?

    We found this cool crossword to challenge (better to boost) our knowledge of the history behind this day.

    Just me be silly. I wanted to find a photo of me with some of the more African colors, this was me in a Walmart playing around wearing a knit hat with attached dreadlocks. I think I could have pulled-off the dreads look!

    Lucky for me, African-American that I am, Juneteenth and Freedom Day is something I celebrate in my being, my inner-self any day and everytime I need some “Freedom” from things holding or getting me down.

    Each month can be a celebration! 

    Let’s spread the napkin love for someone you love!

    Change does not happen on it’s own. If I don’t do my part to have a voice in the conversation, to stand for values I believe in, then someone somewhere else will make choices and laws that I did not want nor agree with.

    More is at stake, more people should get out to vote!

    Early voting in Georgia’s Primary has begun. This morning Neal and I headed over to our local polling place to vote “early“! (Make a plan, don’t miss your chance!)

    We have a polling place which was just a few blocks from our apartment.

    I walked in, cast my vote.

    Now Robert, look at the change in the world ‘you’ just made!

    Hey! Guess what? My vote is counted!

    I feel Good!

    Ok, you can dance too!
