    A beautiful Saturday morning a the public soccer fields to watch my grandson.

    I looked up towards the sky just in time to catch a jet streaking by.

    I was just 25. Alway being away with the military, living away from Baltimore, Maryland gave me little time with you. How I wish it was different.

    I, Robert John Smith Jr have always been a reflection of my Dad, namely Robert John Smith Sr.  

    Both of us are very good looking men, which is better looking he would argue that point. I love the fact that my dad chose to make me a junior. I got to mirror all his great qualities and everyone expected that I should do it well.

    I was reminded this morning in a text from my Aunt Verl, Dad’s baby sister.

    Dad, Thanks for giving me your heart and your love!

    Dad, your love, your laughter, your kindness extended to everyone you met will not be forgotten! You are greatly missed!

    People Portraits: Chickamauga Toes on Tybee Island Beach

    A portrait captures a moment that’s gone forever; they are impossible to reproduce. Beach Photography: Chattanooga Toes on Tybee Island Beach. My goal in this series is to create a really awesome frame of people existing “right then” because they honored me with there time to share their world.

    A sunny day. Well let’s head to Tybee for a morning stroll. Why Tybee? Well, it’s Savannah’s beach and only about 20 minutes away. Neal (NealEnjoy.com) had longed all week to have sand between his toes and surf on his legs. Neal loves the beach!

    Well, I enjoy walking on the beach but not so much the sandy-wet feet thing. Most of all I like shooting photos and meeting people! It’s a sunny day, so let’s make friends on the beach.

    As I walked along I noticed with my photographer’s eye all the tiny things washed up on the shore. Yes it got a bit intense moving a few feet then “click”, a bit more then “click” and then…

    A friendly voice said, “Well you can take a picture of my feet!” A fellow beach walker with two other ladies had watched my whole “feet avoid the water” dance. She smiled, and I knew this was my moment!

    “Sure,” I quickly said.

    Laughter followed! I was quite serious about capturing the free spirit of the moment.

    Click, the shutter moved! I said, “Now you are immortalized forever!” Again we chuckled with morning breeze refreshing our souls.

    A perfect capture! A lovely shade of red(pink) shimmered on surf soaked toes, happy to be free from shoes, soaking up the earth’s goodness.

    Afterwards we chatted, finding out the the three – Mom and two daughters – had traveled from Chickamauga, Georgia. Neal I had visited the Historic Battlefields at Chickamauga and nearby Chattanooga. We quickly christened the moment, “Chickamauga Toes“. I told them about my blog and shared the link which she sent to her mom.

    Sadly I failed in my quest for dry feet as later I was concentrating a little too much on a shot when “Sploosh!” Well happy “Savannah Toes” this Friday! To my beach friends: Enjoy your trip and this beautiful day at the beach! I hope you like the blog post, please comment.

    Repost, Read – Throwback Thursday – Thursday Trios

    A portrait captures a moment that’s gone forever, they are impossible to reproduce. Portrait Photography: Produce, Peaches, Pals. My goal in this series is to create a really awesome frame of this person existing because they allowed me time to share their world. 

    To tell the truth this post started with Neal wanting some “vine-ripe” tomatoes. Adjustments to the daily schedule now promised a trip to Davis Produce Stand. Grabbing my trusted camera we were off.

    I love Davis Produce! This stand sits on the highway next to a gas station with only a few parking spaces, so get there early. Immediately upon stepping out of the car I saw my first photo subject, a hand painted sign on the building side. Perusing and picture taking the assortment of vegetables and vintage collectibles on shelves from farms and dairies, it was so wonderful, then a lovely trio walked into view.

    Totally full of smiles and clutching a small bushel of beautiful peaches, I watched them interacting with each other. Two things rose up in me. First a distinct desire to make a homemade peach pie, look for a future post about that. Second and most important for this post a desire to ask to take a portrait of them. To my delight all three nodded their heads and somehow smiled even more.

    Another Trio!

    I later learned these peach purchasers were no strangers to this produce stand but were local patrons.
