    Reality altering, life-changing cheese biscuits!

Today Neal and I had lunch at Jimmy ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q. Before our order arrived at the table we were treated to “life-changing cheese biscuits” by the friendliest server in the south.

    No-Lie!

That is what she called them. So after a hardy knee slapping laugh, I let the appetizer do it magic on my already lightened mood.

The beautiful sunny outdoor seating added to ease of just “relaxing in the moment

    Food was tasty!

    Life seemed, Good!

    Lunch can be life changing.

    How was your lunch today?

Great eating on Fernandina Beach, Florida

    4 – 5 – 2021

    . .

Our all time favorite place for breakfast when we are in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Great food! Outside tables and wonderful staff! I can’t resist their breakfast potatoes and onions, so good! Fresh muffins and homemade jam or marmalade on the side. Scrumptious!

Macro Monday: Lunch for the her children

When I saw this mysterious insect flying around my curbside flowers I was intrigued. Not knowing at the time this was a polka-dot wasp moth or also know as an oleander moth, he was hanging out on my front stoop because his life cycle was almost up.

Months later I take a look at my little oleander bush and it is covered with bright orange, furry caterpillars. Their bodies were covered with long lash-like hairs that would make “L’Oréal” jealous! Apparently these moth lay eggs on the their favorite source of food, my oleander bush! Lunch turned into an “all you can eat” buffet. They ate my plant.

Dinner on the evening of April 30, 2020 was an incredable oven roasted vegetables. Mini yukon gold potatoes, green onions, red peppers and red onions. The perfect reason to grab the camera and “snap” before eating.

No you need to see the dish that was the catalyst for my last photo! So yummy! So delicious!

  • Throwback Thursday: Breakfast at a Lunch Counter

Throwback Thursday: Breakfast at a Lunch Counter

I thought my day was truly off to a bad start! Waking up late for starters, but I still got my cup of joe in my favorite mug. Somehow we needed to get a decent breakfast before grandkid babysitting duty at noon. What would be delicious and quick?

    Suddenly, an Epiphany!

Just the day before while getting our daily walking steps in we stumbled upon The Grey Market Savannah, lunch counter and market.

Off we headed, across downtown Historic Savannah. Found decent parking and as we walked through the door, to our surprise, the place was packed. Counter full my spirits sank! My countenance went sour! I was not a happy camper. With the prospect of spending the next unknown number of hours with three little kids, no breakfast. I wanted, no needed a “do over”!

I checked the parking app on my phone, 20 minutes out of the 30 paid for had expired. Another 30 to 45 minutes seemed necessary. Just then Neal spied a couple paying at the counter and we swooped in before the seats could be taken. A little too quickly for to waitress who politely asked to clean our spot.

Coffee poured into cup, breakfast hash ordered, bacon crispy, disaster averted! So pleasant was the conversation with our waitress, so delicious was the locally sourced foods ( made in house). Kudos were promptly given to the cook who worked tirelessly churning our meals, bagel sandwiches all while rotisserie chickens and pork loin rotated in the background.

Oh how I love having breakfast at a lunch counter!

I was walking down Broughton Street, Historic District Savannah, Georgia. It was just becoming evening here in South Georgia and the sun was setting slowly. Approaching MLK Blvd I looked up. What a sky! That inspired me and I captured my last photo of March 2020.

Last photo I took in February 2020

I was walking down historic Broad Street in Augusta, Georgia after lunch admiring the mix of old run down, decaying store fronts and renewed spaces being brought back to life, revived with new purpose if you will, when captured my last photo of February 2020.

There it was. A rusty roof-like over hang with rectangular hole that looked more torn than rusted through. I don’t know why but I’m always intrigued how plants, even trees grown on, in, through old walls, brick walls and rusty roofs.

  • Farmer’s Fresh Lunch

    Farmer’s Fresh Lunch

Saturday mornings usually mean a trip to the local farmers market.  Today was no exception. Forsyth Farmer’s Market in gorgeous Forsyth Park is within walking distance, just about 20 minutes away, but the forecast called for thunderstorms mid morning so we drove (not taking any chances).  Our organic haul included baby red splendor mustard greens, salad spring greens, beautiful strawberries and salted, roasted peanuts.  All these delicious items made a garden salad that produced a feast for the eyes and palette.
