Some may say it is scandalous to have bourbon so early in the afternoon. Here in the the South, Savannah, Georgia to be more precise, it was the best choice to make.

After spending an hour in the Jepson Center for the Arts (part of the Telfair Museums) enjoying an exhibit on Rembrandt and the Jewish Experience“, Neal and I headed to the next square, Wright Square to indulge ourselves in confectionery heaven. Wright Square Cafe known for delicious delights and savoy bites was our destination and we made before it was thronged with lunchtime patrons. Neal ordered a thick chocolate and marshmallow dessert with a steaming hot chocolate. I decided on a perfect slice of bourbon pecan pie with hot peach tea (it’s Georgia after all)

Decadent pecans suspended in sweet sugary southern goodness! My fork sank deep into the crust which resembled dense shortbread. Rapturous heaven laced with tasty bourbon.

It didn’t take long to realize how the combination of tea and pie completed the wonderful afternoon. Neal’s chocolate and marshmallow square is barely visible in the picture because this post is about my pie! He will have another post at another time! Ha!

After relaxing in the Parisian style cafe we enjoyed a perfect Spring afternoon walk through Historic Downtown Savannah. Such a wonderful surprise date planned by Neal, my love!
