The horn of a tugboat, the Arkansas, announcing to the morning a massive boat, better ship was making its way up the river and out to sea.
The Hapag-Lloyd Chicago Express from Hamburg, deck laden with towering stacks of shipping containers slowly lumbered into sight. With a long maritime blast of its horn signaling her mighty presence, she filled all the space my eyes could see. As the moments passed, this boat seemed to elastically stretch the bow farther from sight before the stern section snapped into view.
