Friday Flowers – Sea Ox-Eye Daisy – The Flower Hour

Neal and I explored a part of Skidaway Island we had never been to before. The Marsh Tower.

What? You never heard of it before! Well same here.

Apple Maps to the rescue!

The tower was grand! Literally “towering” above Skidaway’s tidal marshy landscape. We could see forever from up there. Yet the best part of the trip happened on the ground.

“Sometimes sunshine does not fill the sky.
Sometimes it rests in one yellow bloom,
offered by the person walking beside you.”

The marsh gave us views, wind, weathered trees, moving reeds, and mud. Neal found the one bright thing and held it out to me.

Place and Presence

Time together does not have to be built around something grand. Sometimes it is simply walking the same path, noticing what the other person notices, and allowing one small discovery to become part of the story you share.

One Bloom, Endless Marsh

Even in a landscape shaped by wind and tide, the smallest gesture asked to be noticed.

The flower moved from his hand to his hair, and the marsh gave us another reason to smile.

Looking out across all that open marsh we wondered how far till the river, till the sea? As I studied the massive fallen cedar driftwood tree, Neal found one small brightness and held it out to me. I placed it in his hair. Wow! The way a smile can arrive, as an unexpected flower.

Little joys make life so worthwhile!
