    Stacey Abrams Showed Up

Sunday morning, October 14th, 2018, Atlanta’s Gay Pride Celebration Parade. Roaring applause preceded the SUV bearing gubernatorial Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams and the vast body of supporters as the made their way down Atlanta’s Peachtree Street and onto 10th Street.

Pride flags were waving, banners and handheld fans saying “I’m a fan of Stacey Abrams” jeered supporters to scream louder. Pleasantly waves of joy and excitement washed over me as I’m now cheering loudly we the crowds all the while trying to get a decent photo at the same time.

Having already felt connected to the jubilation shared amongst Pride attendees both LGBTQ and their families, friends, allies, now to see my choice for Governor sealed the deal for the day!

As a reminder to all… Vote, Vote, Vote, VOTE!!!

Be the change we need in Georgia today!

  • Bubble Bubbles

    Bubble Bubbles

Folks don’t be alarmed! We interrupt Fall for a special Springtime announcement! “Remember moments in time!”

Children at play. Running, wands in hand.

Creating imaginary worlds that take shape before our very eyes and transport them, and us, to a time when …

… mortgages and debts were not words on our vocabulary list.

… should I share my lunch or just the pudding?

… which pair of socks don’t match with anything I’m wearing?

… school really meant what time is recess.

… when is the next field trip?

Children, eyes full of wonder, follow the soap bubbles as the shimmer and dance on the breeze. They gently blow hopeful breaths at wobbling spheres, watching them shudder then morph into several new translucent portals. Using only their imagination, kids enter through the thin membrane and are elsewhere frolicking!

Nearby adults reach for these pocket invitations drifting towards them only to have the bubbles, our captured moments burst on their fingertips!

In response dozens of children wave wands in the air giving us hope again!

  • Rooftop Savannah: A Sunset

    Rooftop Savannah: A Sunset

Nothing could be nicer than to be walking in Historic Downtown Savannah on a midsummer’s night eve…

Well nothing better than catching the last  fleeting glimpses of that days’ perfect sunset atop a Historic Downtown Savannah parking garage.  Above most the city, above cares and squabbles!

The splendor of spending time with two of my loves Savannah and Neal Saye!

I love walking in my city! The Squares, the lanes, the people! Yet looking down upon the tops of those majestic old trees, seeing the varied architecture, church spires  and marveling at the beautiful cityscape does the heart good!

Sharing all this goodness with the one who holds your hand, heart and attention!

  • People Portraits: Young Love is There

People Portraits: Young Love is There

A portrait captures a moment that’s gone forever, they are impossible to reproduce. Street Photography: Young Love. My goal in this series is to create a really awesome frame of people existing because they allowed me time to share their world.

Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. I love it when chance encounters lead to impromptu portrait shoots. This was the case during a trip to Hilton Head Island for a day in the sun on the thier beautiful beaches.  I knew my eye would catch my photo-worthy subjects and so I packed my camera accordingly.

As to day progressed along beautifully we happened apon Shelter Cove Harbour, a splendid marinea tucked away as to preserve its quaintness. Restaurants and shops lined one side and the Disney Resort on Hilton Head matched the other side to frame in a spectacular view of sparkling water, yachts of every size, ducks and cranes splashing as their reflections rippled on the surface and tour guides lead a small group of adventurers through the cove standing, yet paddling along on surf boards.  Joining both sides of the Harbour was bridge for both walkers and vehicles to traverse water inlet below.  As Neal and I approached the bridge I had already began to see in my mind the shots I wanted to take there framed by the flower pot arrangements and the symmetry of the bridge’s pedestrian walkway.  That was when I noticed a young couple struggling with the proverbial “selfie” shot trying to capture themselves with the harbour as a background.

I decided to wait as we could get the bridge to ourselves but the couple seemed to have a bit of trouble and asked other people crossing the bridge to take their picture.  After several folks moved past the two young lovebirds, I decided to simply move past them then take my pictures.  The young man saw my camera in my hand and his beautiful partner motioned him to ask, “Are you a photographer?” then, “Would you mind taking our picture?”. I gladly introduced myself, all the while reaching into my wallet to retrieve a blog card.

I agreed to line up the photo shoot with their phone, an iPhone 6, if they would allow me the opportunity to take portrait shots with my camera. There was such a delight about this couple (Katie and Chris), an aura of young love surrounded my willing subjects as I placed them on the bridge to fully capture to moment at hand.  Their natural at-ease-ness only served to enhance the perfect lighting and gorgeous harbour setting they choose to privately share the love/moment. I invited them to visit the blog and email me for personal copies of the portraits. As I turned my attention to my other photo interest, Neal, I could see just past him Katie lovingly leaping up onto Chris’ back as he “piggyback style” carried her the rest of the length of the bridge. What a joy, Young Love!

    Flags on the Breeze

The beautifully overcast morning sky brings a steady fall-ish breeze across the Savannah River on historic Savannah River Street.

Our Tuesday morning walk is delightfully accented by the snapping of flags on the breeze.

A precursor of possibly fowl weather as Tropical Storm/Hurricane Michael approaches Georgia southwest of Florida.

  • Lotus or Lily

    Lotus or Lily

    Floating gently

    Koi pass beneath

    Colored petals blossom

    Pads anticipate passengers

    A reflection of sky

    She pauses… A closer look… she climbs…

    Patiently we wonder…

Lotus or Lily? Is that what’s on her mind?

  • A Summer of Cool

    A Summer of Cool

Nothing says Summer like a hot day in Savannah, Georgia! And nothing beats a hot day in Savannah like standing in the spraying water fountains at Ellis Square.

Reach out, feel the  crystal clear cool.

Look up, see the blue sky, feel the spray.

    Rainbows dance in the puddles!

It’s all about a Summer of Cool!
