Cellpic Sunday Jun 30, 2024:

Besides traveling to all of Georgia’s state parks Neal and I also found other nearby places that sheltered the mighty Long Leaf Pine. Trees so tall and old that we could learn a thing or to from them.

On such place is Hitchcock Woods Urban Forest

Hitchcock Woods, Aiken, South Carolina is the largest privately-owned urban forest in the country. Have you been to an actual urban forest?

Although being in the center of a city this very large place had many trails that led to interesting places.

We found the Tea Cottage site of an old settlement.

I’m not sure when, but at sometime before we arrived someone unearthed glassware.

Old, Rustic, Beautiful!

Photos taken with my iPhone 8 Plus.

Don this forest was so big that there were 5 entrances from around the city. Lots of hiking, riders on horses and somehow we didn’t get lost… ha!

  1. Wow, Robert! What an interesting woods. I’ve been to many urban parks but before your post, I’d never seen or heard of an urban woods. Cool!
