Green Apple in the Southern City

Lost and Found: Green Apple

An apple a day keeps the hungry away? Walking the streets of Savannah, I spied with my little eye a lonely green apple. Well what made this discovery strange was where he was sitting. On the window ledge of the downtown homeless shelter.

Was this a generous gift left by one of the many Girl Scouts that wander Savannah’s southern streets in search of girl history and merit badges. A child on vacation with health conscious parents sat the apple there hoping he could now go to Leopold’s Ice Creamery for a double scoop instead. Maybe a local, a resident happened to know at sometime that day a person would not have to ask for a handout because this well placed Granny Smith is now theirs for the taking. My hope is that it was not wasted.

This is not a tale of the Big Apple! No it’s a small green apple left to fend for its self in Savannah, Georgia.

No fresh baked apple pies or delicious apple fritters were attempted in the making of this blog post.
