Repair and Rescue
My fellow photographers and blog followers. I have not posted to this blog in a while and much has changed since I began this photograph blogging adventure back in 2013. Many changes have occurred, some great and others more challenging. I have increased in my skills as a photographer, “Yeah”, and added several cameras to my equipment repertoire. Even the iPhones and iPads I use have been given serious hardware and software upgrades. I posted some amazing photos, entered some photography challenges and even attended a WordPress Photography 101 course.
On the darker, less happy side of things, my actual site was down awhile. It seems when I began this journey of photog exploration I had established my blog hosting site with my retired military email (check out my About page) which later was recouped by the government (a benefit loss to all retired military members) meaning all past emails stored, even the blog hosting site emails were lost to. Well the hosting company was emailing me about change in company client policy using the defunct email. Without repeated replies the hosting site closed my account and then deleted my WordPress backups. I later found out the personnel account represenative each website gets, my personal representative had been long since been changed and no one attempted to contact me.
After many frustrating calls and having the hosting site allowing me to provide an older Dropbox/Wordpress backup, I got my blog back. Well not really. Wordpress treated the backup like a new blog account and so I lost all my tags, all my categories, many links and pictures. Now I am repairing, rebuilding and updating all aspects of my blog (New Blog) one post at a time, one page at time, one picture at a time. Repair and Rescue. Please excuse the chaotic mess as I replace and relink pages and pictures to posts many of you have liked and commented on. Take time to explore my blog world and share with folks you believe may be uplifted by what I present here.

People Portraits: Friendly Farmers Market
A portrait captures a moment that’s gone forever, they are impossible to reproduce. Street Photography: Friendly Farmers Market. My goal in this series is to create a really awesome frame of people existing because they allowed me time to share their world.
Forsyth Farmers Market, Forsyth Park, Savannah, Georgia. To say it has been awhile since I’ve enjoyed the local farmers market would be an understatement. After landing the awesome job in produce at Publix Supermarket, my Saturday mornings were not my own anymore, which happened to be the very same time the Forsyth Park Farmers Market is open to the wonderful residents of Savannah and the surrounding areas. January 20th 2015 to be precise, the last day I found myself enveloped by foodies and health nuts, families of every shape ‘n’ size and individuals treating themselves to an all natural frozen fruit bar while rugged rugby athletes toss the ball in the background.This Saturday, I had the pleasure of reacquainting myself with the part of neighborhood/community I missed so long. I though of the scripture, ” As the deer panteth for the waters, so does Robert for Walker Farm Produce.” Ok, Ok! Maybe I to some liberty with changing that scripture but if your a regular shopper as any farmer’s market I’m sure you know what I mean. My ritual is to walk completely through the market first, checking out the goods, then once I’m at the other end I can play “What Rachel Ray can buy with just $20 Dollars!”
Today was especially good because I brought my Nikon along and as Neal can attest to, I like to stop every five seconds to take a picture. I just knew there would be a great photo wait for me this morning. As I made my way into the market I caught a glimpse of many interesting personalities but wanted something, someone to speak to me. Just my luck with our basket full and on the way back home I saw what I knew had to be my next portrait. She was very interactive with the nutrition-craving shoppers as they inquired about her locally sourced produce. I waited for the mini-crowd to disperse and moved in. First greeting and introduction, then my purpose for the photo shoot and “Sold!” I was given the green light and started “snapp’n” away. I thanked her and passed along my card. Of course like the smooth business man I am not, I forgot to get her name. Still the people portrait is in honor of our local farmers and naturally sourced organic goods that brighten our days and our plates each week.

Be My Guest: MD SPCA PHOTOS
Patrice Johnson currently volunteers with the Maryland SPCA as photographer. She is very passionate and expresses herself through photography.
Her photos are of available pets for adoption. Patrice has a great eye for capturing each pet’s unique soul. I’m sorry but you will just fall in love with these guys! I sure did! It’s not just the fact that I rescued my lovable cat “Boopers” from a cage at the local Savannah Humane Society, it is more about the faces of the animals in Patrice’s pictures. They have personality and their eyes, playful expressions, just draw the love and compassion right out of you.

Pat Prokop’s Day Lily Garden, Savannah, Georgia. Memorial Day 2015, great friend Pat Prokop, local meteorologist and avid Day-Lily grower invited myself, Neal, and many of his friends/acquaintances from throughout the community and our church (Asbury Memorial UMC). One of my favorite people and truly a good friend, Lance Wilhem happen to visiting the open garden too. As most of my friends know I just love a good hat, and a good smile, Lance had both! Inspired in the moment, and with his permission of course, Lance became the latest entry in my series. Lance loves to smile and loves people so much that he has started a wonderful group in our church and community, Reconciling Ministries. It’s all about bringing folks together and healing racial wounds causing division in our southern culture. A member of our church’s hospitality committee, I do believe Lance is the right man.

New Hope Springs
So… You thought I was dead and you cut me down. You left my weathered stump in the ground right where I once stood so strong, so proud. Where I sheltered animals and birds who nested in my mighty branches. So… You thought this rotting, decaying stump would be a message to my fellow nearby timber.
After all this time. You have forgotten me. Well I got news… Surprise! Hope Springs!

I call this photo “scerenity”….After coming out of MD SPCA from taking photos with the weather gorgeous as it was I noticed how the light was falling on the location, so of course I kept the camera going and captured this shot.
