    Now That’s a Color Pencil Collection

    While honeymooning in Asheville, NC, Neal and I planned to go check out their well known Arts District. Located near the river we discovered there were many shops, galleries and artist studios along the walk. Many galleries and studios allowed to walk through the artist’s space.

    I was truly amazed at the medium chosen for creation in this particular workspace, large colored pencils with multicolored lead.

    Was this art or art materials?

    Ok, Ok, This is not your average color pencil set.

    National Park Water Falls

    We took a trip to The Great Smokey Mountains National Park, Gatlinburg, Tennessee away from the beaches and relative warmth of Savannah, Georgia’s Winter. Neal is from Cherokee County, Georgia and so we had to visit the Cherokee Nation in North Carolina. While there we headed for Mingo Falls.

    Mingo Falls is on the Cherokee Indian Reservation (Qualla Boundary) a land trust of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians—near the town of Cherokee, Swain County, North Carolina in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the eastern United States, just outside Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

    Mingo Falls is a 120 ft high waterfall, among the tallest in the southern Appalachians.

    Gay Men Love Martha Stewart and My Fresh Herbs Asparagus Quiche

    What is Robert Cooking?

    Pie baking time!

    So is quiche a pie? Yes, darlings, quiche is a pie. A quiche is a savory dish made with eggs, cream, and cheese that is baked in a pastry crust.  Easily served as a breakfast, brunch or dinner meal. While in high school I took culinary arts and we had a little cafe open on Tuesdays and Thursdays. One of our main dish specialities was quiche! I mean really… who could resist this buttery, flaky goodness.

    That was many years ago so I enlisted the help of a cooking pro, the boss of bosses, powerhouse Martha Stewart! Remember she helped me out a while back with the best french toast recipe.

    Fruitful Mornings: Martha Stewart’s Oven French Toast

    Martha had lots to say on the subject of baking and I was ready.

    First important step lactose free!

    I could just take those “lactose” pills but I really wanted this to be meal I enjoyed, so of course we had to make a few “lactose free” substitutes, but I don’t think Martha would mind.

    Blind bake the buttery crust, fill the golden shell. Lightly top with chopped chives, fresh dill and parsley. I decided to add some asparagus tips I had in the fridge.

    The herbs just settle in place, then into the oven and bake.

    Yes I must say… Martha would be proud! Ok, how about the gays? Neal seemed quite pleased with my creation especially because he didn’t have to labour in a hot kitchen. Verdict: He loved every bite!

    Shopping for holiday colorful patterns, finding the seasonal appropriate additions to our placemats. Sometime the search leads us to multiple stores but he always chooses the best napkins to set the mood of any table or even state park picnic spread.

    No matter where I am, I have to stop and get down close enough to catch the details of flowers.

    I can even get Neal slightly out of focus in shot without him noticing.

    Then again he can capture a good shot of me capturing a flower too!

    So we did a little bit of traveling this past weekend. Savannah to Atlanta, Georgia. I know they are so close, SAV – ATL! Why not right!? WE found the perfect airbnb rental in midtown very close to all our planned activities.

    While at our little airbnb, I still had to work on and publish my daily blog. Handy iPad Pro w/keyboard and apple pencil make blogging on the go a snap.

    Neal (Nealenjoy.com) and I enjoyed a morning cup of joe while we fine tuned our blog posts together.
