Saturday Six-Word Musings
Another lunch with Icon Frida Kahlo
Neal and I were enjoying our lunch at Jalepeno’s Mexican Restaurant when we noticed someone seemingly very interested in our menu choices that day.
I asked Neal, “What are you looking at over there?”
He pointed. Is that a face? (I haven’t even sipped my margarita yet!)
There in a mirror, Frida was indeed keeping an eye on the lunch clientele.

But wait a minute!

I craned my neck to look over my shoulder and I saw Frida, Icon, Fighter, Activist, Artist as her full self.

Of course all this head turning caught the attention of our waitress.
(side story) Neal and I learned more about Frida at a lecture in Savannah.
Well to add this story she pointed out another Frida Portrait in the other half of the restaurant towards the restrooms.
Wow! I thought upon first sight.

I’m not an art scholar by any stretch of the imagination but Google tells me, surely the artist must have patterned their Frida collage after the Dada, Surrealist, Pop Art, or Neo-Dada style art.

And Frida was such a lovely and lively lunch companion!
Well Neal, I think the “lovely and lively” may have been the “margaritas” ha!
